OVERVIEW OF THE GIRLS LACROSSE PROGRAM
Welcome to the Three Village Girls Lacrosse Program. The game of Lacrosse is growing at an incredible rate, and the Three Village Girls Lacrosse Program is striving to stay ahead of the curve. We are always looking for ways to improve the program and are always interested in finding additional coaches and volunteers to help us achieve our goals. The Girls Youth Lacrosse Program in Three Village offers lacrosse to girls from kindergarten through eighth grade. The program runs three (3) seasons as we are trying to offer the girls as much lacrosse as possible all while understanding the importance of multiple activities for the girls.
The Girls Program is broken down into three seasons as follows:
See Home Page for Information.
Note:Some grade levels may do more or less than what is outlined above based on what the individual grade level coordinator and coaches feel is best for their girls.
If you have questions and would like to know more about the girl’s winter program please contact your grade level coordinator
2. Spring Season
Kindergarten – 1st Grade:
Practice style clinics will be held throughout the Spring with an emphasis on developing the proper fundamentals of the game of lacrosse. Similar to the Winter Season, the clinics are designed to work with the girls and developing the most basic skills involved in the game of girl’s lacrosse. We feel that it is far more important to involve skills where all the girls have a “ball in stick” at the same time. This style develops more girls than a typical drill which involves one (1) ball and several girls in a long line waiting their turn.
Based on the number of participants and grade level the girls are entered as a team into Nassau PAL or Suffolk County Girls Lacrosse Leagues where they will play in an eight (8) game season. Games are held on Sunday’s from April to June. Grades 2 thru 6 will also hold practices during the week to further improve their skills both from an individual as well as from the team concept. These practices will be held with their individual team along with the coaches. The Spring league is a “travel” style league where each team will play four (4) home games and four (4) away games. Depending on the grade level and level of commitment the girls may also be entered into 1 or 2 local tournaments that will take place throughout the spring. Tournaments are usually played at a somewhat higher level so the final decisions will be left up to the Coaches and Grade Level Coordinators.
3. Summer League
This will consist of a separate league or clinic style practices run at Ward Melville HS. More to come on this in the Spring
Cost: The costs for each season varies so please check the website for updates.
